Bloggers Unite to Raise Breast Cancer Awareness
Featured, Living Monday, February 22nd, 2010On February 17, over 100 women and a few brave men gathered to celebrate women in social media and to raise awareness of breast cancer among women of color. Entitled “Creating Our Own Conversations,” the event was hosted by Ford Motor Company’s Warriors in Pink and organized by Blogalicious, a social networking group connecting bloggers with bloggers.
Moderated bu Ceci Connolly, a national writer for The Washington Post, the event held a panel discussion featuring well-known women bloggers, including Shana Glickfield of NextGenWeb, Kety Esquivel of National Council of La Raza, Kady Chiu of Kadidid Consulting and Nicole McLean, breast cancer survivor blogger, My Fabulous Boobies.
Also in attendance was Lamar Tyler of BlackandMarriedwithKids.com, Author of “That Which Awakens Me” Ananda Leeke, and D.C. nightlife blogger Joi-Marie McKenzie of TheFabEmpire.com.
