Explore, Dream and Achieve! College and Career Connections Benefit
Washington, D.C. Thursday, March 11th, 2010 en-USOn March 4th over a hundred Washingtonians gathered at Twelve Restaurant and Lounge on the up and coming H Street to show their love and appreciation of for DC youth by joining College & Career Connections (CCC) for their first Annual Valentines Benefit. The event was postponed in February due to the snow, but guests still showed their support by wearing red.

The events honorary chairs included Chairman Vincent Gray,Councilmembers Yvette Alexander, Kwame Brown, Michael Brown, David Catania, Phil Mendelson, Harry Thomas Jr., Tommy Wells, State Board of Education Dorothy Douglas and Thomas Nida, DC Public Charter School Board Chair. The event boasts a live auction with a special video presentation from CCC Executive Director Deann Ayer.
CCC is dedicated to building a college-going culture among youth in DC’s under-resourced communities. In just three years, CCC has engaged 1,000 middle and early high school students from Wards 7 and 8 in college and career planning activities and visits to college campuses and workplaces.
