Mystics players Alana Beard and Marissa Coleman conducted the basketball clinic, offering tips for success on the court and in life to young women selected from basketball teams at D.C. high schools. The girls’ basketball teams at Coolidge, Dunbar, McKinley Tech, and H.D. Woodson were present. Norton said, “We think that the best way to celebrate Women’s History Month this year is to feature Sheila Johnson, a woman who has already made history and continues to do so, along with young women in high school in our city who seek to follow her example of hard work to achieve success. Sheila Johnson is a one of a kind leader of women and girls of all backgrounds, in all pursuits. She represents the whole package for young women in D.C. whose lives in sports can be the best preparation for excelling in whatever they do, as Johnson has.”
